A Clash of Titans: Ngannou vs. Ferreira

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou returns to the cage on Saturday, October 19, after a brief stint in boxing. At 37, Ngannou faces off against Brazilian powerhouse Renan Ferreira for the newly minted PFL heavyweight Superfight Championship belt. This match has been aptly dubbed the “Battle of the Giants.”

Ngannou is making his PFL debut after signing with the organization in May 2023, providing a significant boost to the league and its new Super Fights division. The last time fans saw Ngannou in action was at UFC 270 in January 2022, where he defended his title against Ciryl Gane, winning by unanimous decision. Following a contentious contract dispute, Ngannou departed the UFC, leading to him being stripped of his title in January 2023.

Despite leaving the UFC, Ngannou's star power continues to shine brightly. He gained global attention with two boxing bouts in Riyadh against Tyson Fury in October 2023 and Anthony Joshua in May 2024. Although he faced defeat in the second round against Joshua, Ngannou put up an impressive fight against Fury, taking the reigning champion to the distance and nearly capturing the title.
