Alexandre Pantoja (28-5) is on a six-fight winning streak heading into UFC 310. The 34-year-old Brazilian won the UFC flyweight title in July 2023 on the heels of two “Performance of the Night” submission wins. Pantoja secured the 125-pound title with a split decision win over Brandon Moreno. Since that victory, Pantoja has defended his title twice, beating Brandon Royval in December and Steve Erceg in May. Both fights ended in decision victories.
Kai Asakura (21-4) signed with the UFC in June. The 31-year-old is a two-time Rizin bantamweight champion. His first title run began with a knockout victory over Hiromasa Ougikubo. That reign ended in his first defense with a KO loss to Kyoji Horiguchi. Following that loss, Asakura went 4-1 before regaining the vacant 135-pound belt in December 2023 with a TKO over Juan Archuleta. Asakura has not fought since that victory.
The UFC initially booked Shavkat Rakhmonov against UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad for this card. That fight fell through when Muhammad was knocked off the card with a bone infection in his two. In place of that fight, Rakhmonov will face Ian Machado Garry. Rakhmonov enters UFC 310 is the No. 3 fighter in the official UFC welterweight rankings, while Garry checks in at No. 7.
Rakhmonov (18-0) is 6-0 as a UFC fighter. The 30-year-old has never gone the distance in his career. He has five submissions under the UFC banner and one knockout. In his most recent outing, Rakhmonov submitted two-time UFC title challenger Stephen Thompson in December 2023.
Garry (15-0) has an 8-0 record under the UFC banner. The 27-year-old has five decisions and three knockouts. In his most recent outing, Garry defeated Michael “Venom” Page at UFC 303.
