Kent State and UCLA will get started in about 15 minutes. The first game was a thriller, with LSU defeating UC Irvine 11-10 in 11 innings.

KSU gets two runners on base in the 1st inning but fails to score.

KSU 0, UCLA 0 - Bottom 1st

Sabo gives up two runs in the 1st. After loading the bases with no out he got a double play. Cody Regis then doubled in the second run.

UCLA 2, KSU 0 - Top 2nd.

Flashes go in order in the 2nd inning. KSU wearing their throwback grey uniforms that they first used during the home BG series.

UCLA 2, KSU 0 - Bottom 2nd.

No we couldn't. Pretty much couldn't afford to not take advantage of two runners on in the first inning too.

It's not looking good in LA right now. Pitching change for KSU, down 5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Sabo had hit two batters in a row, the second one bringing in a run.

UCLA 5, KSU 0 - Bottom 3rd.

It continued to get ugly in Los Angeles as the Flashes fall to UCLA 15-1 on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

It was nice to see two young guys, George Roberts and Jason Bagoly put together back to back base hits in the 9th for the Flashes to get on the scoreboard. Other than that, there was nothing to cheer about for KSU.

Kent State will meet UC Irvine tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. (EST) in an elimination game.

Kent State head coach Scott Stricklin on last night's game

opening statement
"Well, put simply it was starting pitching. Gerrit Cole was obviously very good. Robert Sabo did not have a good start. That was the difference in the game and the game was over very early."

on Kent State starting pitcher Robert Sabo
"Robert has been up and down all year. If you look back at his starts they are either really good or what you saw tonight. We were hoping the other Robert Sabo would show up."

on what he told the team after the game
"That's not the way that I want people to think about our team. We are a better team than that. We played very poorly. The ball went up in the air and we didn't catch it. We had a ground ball to shortstop that we made a misplay on and extended an inning. So we had chances to get out of it early and quite frankly it should have been three or four to nothing. We gave them extra outs and they took advantage of it and did a great job."

on UCLA's Gerrit Cole
"When you have a guy like Cole on the mound, you have to get to him early. If he settles in he's going to be really, really good. He pitched very well."
