Morgan State (1-1) has not played many FBS foes in the last several years except for on the road at Akron in 2023. In that one, the Bears were on the cusp of victory with only a miracle play giving Akron a 24-21 win. With less than a minute to play and the ESPN ‘Win Predictor’ meter as close as possible to 100 percent in the Bears favor, Akron star defensive end CJ Nunnally IV stripped the running back of the ball and the Zips Brian McCoy scooped and scored on a 13-yard touchdown return for the comeback win.

The Bears didn’t seal the deal against the Zips but head to Ohio (1-1) after a year of growth to take another shot and see if they can close out the final minutes against another MAC foe.
With that, we will take a look at each squad starting with the visitors.
ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio football team (1-1) returns to Athens to take on the Morgan State Bears (1-1) on Sept. 14. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium and can be seen on ESPN+ with Michael Reghi and Marcus Ray on the call.
The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Veteran Ohio radio personality Marty Bannister is stepping into the 2024 play-by-play role and will be joined by Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades.
Morgan State football has been unpredictable this season. At times, the Bears’ offense looks strong, but at other moments, it struggles. As they prepare to play an FBS team in Ohio this Saturday, the big question is: can they get offensive consistency before they get into the HBCU part of the season?
