What will be new for this year’s Miss Universe competition?​

This year, the Miss Universe Organization has raised the number of semifinalists from 30, up from 20 in previous years. They will compete in the swimsuit segment, evening gown round, and closed-door interviews.

Then, the number is cut to 12 and then to five finalists who will move on to the Q&A round, where the new Miss Universe and her four runners-up will be revealed.

Also new is the addition of competitors from Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Iran, Macau, Maldives, Moldova, North Macedonia, Somalia, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.

Miss Panama, Italy Mora, was disqualified from the competition for leaving the hotel without permission.
