Matt Rinehart, MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week

Junior punter Matt Rinehart was named the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week (Nov. 1, 2010).

In Saturday's 33-14 win over Ball State, Rinehart turned in the best day of his career, averaging 52.0 yards on four punts. Ranked first in the MAC in average, Rinehart's effort included a 62-yard blast, his second-best punt of the season.

Awesome, if this kid isn't 1st team All-MAC then something is wrong.

He was last year as a sophomore... he's leading the league again... gotta assume unless he has a big-time drop off... he'll earn it again.

I know, but I believe Phil Steele left him off his mid-season teams.

PH, I agree. But I wouldn't look much into what Phil Steele says. Back when he came up with his midseason list, his 3rd team MAC punter was ranked 10th in the MAC. I'm thinking he didn't do much research. That, or he's as dumb as a rock. I'd like to think he didn't do his research.

Usually Phil Steele does his research when it comes to the MAC and has been very fair in the past IMO, so I do value his opinion and rankings. I just think he dropped the ball on not listing Rinehart.
