"I wanna travel in the nicest buses. I wanna stay in the nicest hotels. I wanna eat the best food. I wanna wear the nicest apparel. I wanna wear the best helmet,” Austin Peay head coach Will Healy says.

After breaking a 29-game losing streak last week and defeating rival Murray State 27-7 yesterday, Austin Peay is finally changing the perception of its football program. But Healy understands that if you want to change people's perceptions of something, you have to spend money to do it.

Now I realize that is not always the case because the University of Akron has spent tons of money trying to change its football program's perception but have had very little success.

However, I believe in most cases money is an important factor to succeed. That is why Kent State has made the decision to put more emphasis on basketball than football.

"The Game Plan", Kent State's vision of growth for athletics wants to make men's basketball the "vehicle for revenue generation and national distinctiveness." I'm sure that will please Kent State's basketball fanbase but don't expect to ever hire a young inspiring football coach like Healy to come to Kent and successfully change the perception of the football program unless you are willing to spend the money to do it.
