The Mexican blooded boxer is fighting this weekend for the chance to become the sole owner of the flyweight crowns. Gabriela Fundora has always dreamed of becoming a world boxing champion, a dream she realized upon turning 21. However, just a year later, the opportunity to make history again presents itself at her doorstep.

“We've been working hard. This is a big fight, so we're gonna have to be very strong. Everything was smooth and camp was great. I just know I have to train hard and focus on what's in front of me.
“I'm excited. This is gonna be historic and it's gonna be historic for a lot of reasons. We’ve got the youngest male or female undisputed champion, I’ll be the first in my division. There's just so much history going on, and it's an amazing opportunity.”
Alaniz managed to avenge a painful decision loss to Marlen Esparza in July last year, winning a split decision in a rematch nine months later. Fundora is preparing for the best of Alaniz.
This Saturday in Las Vegas, as part of an event headlined by Floyd Schofield, Gaby will face Argentine Gabriela Celeste Alaniz for the crowns of the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF), and the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
"It's something I didn’t think would come this quickly, but it excites me. I have prepared to make history and the training I've done is my backing. I will put my name on that list," said Fundora in an interview with El Heraldo de México.
In addition to risking her title, Gaby also puts her undefeated record (which she has maintained since her boxing debut in 2021) on the line.
The sister of former world champion Sebastian Fundora, Gaby feels supported by her team, composed of her brother and her father-trainer, as she approaches this life-changing bout.
"We've trained a lot and it's very exciting. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity... We have done so many things during our preparation and this week that the nerves simply fade away and we are only focused on the objective," she added.
On the other side of the ring, South American Alaniz arrives with a record of 15-1 with six knockouts, promising to showcase her power and the experience she has accumulated over six years as a professional. This will be Alaniz's third appearance in the United States.
