Both Skrlik and Cameron spent six ends trading singles before Skrlik’s salvo in the seventh found purchase for a score of three for a 6-3 lead.

It proved to be the difference maker as Team Skrlik would eventually coast to the victory in nine ends.

“It was super important,” said Skrlik of the seventh-end score of three. “Even for momentum, I felt like we were going back and forth, up and down. There were a couple of steals that hit us hard, and then hit Kate hard, so it was nice to just get some momentum back and make Kate work for it a little bit more.”


This highly anticipated event will feature top-tier teams from across the country, competing in a knockout-style format for a prestigious title.A first-round win is worth $3,000, a quarterfinal is $6,000, a semifinal is $12,000 and $24,000 goes to Sunday's men's and women's victors for a total take of $50,000 for those teams.

Team Lawes have lost in the semifinals in each of the previous two PointsBet Invitational events while Team Reese-Hansen will make their debut after winning the U25 NextGen Classic earlier this season.

As a Scotties Tournament of Hearts rookie, 25-year-old Selena Sturmay led her young Alberta foursome to a playoff appearance in front of a hometown crowd at Calgary’s WinSport arena last February.

Sturmay and company return to the location of their memorable run last winter, looking for some more magic at the PointsBet Invitational.

They’ll take on Saskatoon’s Team Ashley Thevenot, who also competed at the Calgary Scotties, in the Sweep 16.

Team Thevenot were skipped by Skylar Ackerman at last year's Scotties and almost made the playoffs with a 4-4 round robin record. Ackerman announced at the end of the season she was leaving competitive curling. Thevenot, who was the vice, took over skip duties for 2024-25 and added Brittany Tran to the team.

As a 13th seed, Sturmay upset a rink led by Chelsea Carey at the inaugural Sweep 16 in 2022 before losing to Jennifer Jones in the Elite 8.

It's Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season and injuries are taking a toll on teams across the league. Some got good news ahead of this week's games, like the Detroit Lions who expect tight end Sam LaPorta (ankle) to play on Monday Night Football. Same for San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, who missed Week 3 with a hamstring injury but is expected to play on Sunday.

That luck isn't shared by all other teams, though. Here's a list of the inactives for Week 4's Sunday games.

There are 13 games on the NFL Week 4 schedule on Sunday, and the slate of games include some very intriguing games to watch. There are eight games in the early NFL game window on Sunday, including the New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The early games Sunday include the New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals at Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers at Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos at New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The late games consist of the Washington Commanders at Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots at San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers and Cleveland Browns at Las Vegas Raiders.



The Chargers were a charter member of the American Football League in 1960. After one season in Los Angeles, they moved to San Diego — where they remained for 56 years before returning to Los Angeles in 2017. But wherever they’ve been located, they’ve always been one of Kansas City’s division rivals — first in the AFL’s Western Division and then in the AFC West after the AFL merged with the NFL in 1970.

Sunday’s game will mark the 128th meeting between these teams. Until Andy Reid became Kansas City’s head coach in 2013, the Chiefs were 52-52-1 against the Chargers. Since then, however, Kansas City has earned a 17-5 record against them. Still, seven of the last 10 matchups between these clubs have been settled by a single score (two of them in overtime).

The defending Super Bowl champions have started the season in much the same way, recording three one-score wins that were nailbiters to the very end. During the final five minutes of last Sunday’s 22-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the Chiefs’ defense forced Atlanta to give up the ball on back-to-back red-zone drives.
